Ted Head, Receiving the Environmental Business Award Winner

August 27, 2021

Casting Support Systems (CSS) was honored with the Environmental Business Award at the prestigious Torbay Business Awards 2023. CSS Group Chairman, Ted Head, accepted the award at the Riviera International Centre in Torquay, an event that celebrates outstanding achievements of local businesses.

This accolade recognizes CSS's dedication to environmental sustainability, particularly through efforts such as reducing energy consumption, increasing the use of reprocessed polymers, and introducing the UBQ additive for recycled plastics into the UK tote market.

The UBQ additive is a sustainable material derived from household waste, including organic materials, that would otherwise be destined for landfills. By incorporating UBQ into their products, CSS not only enhances the environmental friendliness of their offerings but also contributes to reducing overall waste and carbon emissions.

This award adds to CSS's growing list of environmental accolades. In 2022, the company was awarded the Silver EcoVadis Medal, placing it among the top 25% of companies assessed by EcoVadis for performance in environmental impact, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.

CSS's commitment to sustainability is further exemplified by their recent move to a new £10 million purpose-built facility. This state-of-the-art building consolidates all divisions of the CSS Group under one roof, providing the necessary space to release new products and invest in environmentally friendly technologies.

These achievements underscore CSS's ongoing dedication to environmental responsibility and innovation in the manufacturing sector.
